Set Up Payment Methods & Funds

When you first open your Stamps.com account, the credit card you entered during your registration process will automatically be the card used to fund your account balance, which pays for any postage you purchase through your account. If you continue beyond your trial period, this payment method will also be used for your monthly subscription fee.

However, you can add multiple payment methods if you'd like to use different credit cards to pay for different types of transactions. Stamps.com has three transaction types:

  • Account funds: This is the balance that pays for any postage you purchase in the account, any package insurance you include, as well as any post-shipment adjustments that could occur.

You must have a positive balance in your account to successfully purchase postage. You can manually add funds to this balance or set your account to automatically add funds when the balance falls below a certain threshold.

  • Service fees: This is the monthly subscription fee for your account.

  • Supplies purchases: This is for any supplies you purchase from the Stamps.com store, which you can access directly from your account under your Profile menu.

You can assign the same payment method to all three or set each type to use a different payment method.
